What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of focused concentration. A person does not have to be relaxed to be in hypnosis. In normal daily interactions one's conscious mind focuses information to the subconscious mind. This is very common. An example of such focusing would be when working on a project; we tend to ignore our surroundings to better concentrate. This type of hypnosis is typically very beneficial. When trying to affect the mind, the most efficient way to make change is working with the subconscious mind. Hypnosis allows us to bypass the analyzing function of the conscious mind and work directly with the subconscious mind with the least amount of interference as possible. The subconscious mind is the greatest goal-achieving mechanism ever devised.

Will it work on me?
There is good news! Hypnosis is for everyone! With the modern hypnosis techniques utilized by the Charlotte Hypnotherapy Center, any willing person of normal intelligence can be hypnotized. Your hypnotist simply helps you to use these natural human abilities to make the changes you want to make, and the types of changes you can make are only limited by your imagination.

Will I lose control under hypnosis?
Being hypnotized is similar to placing yourself in a relaxed state where you think more efficiently and accept suggestions easily. This does not in anyway exclude you from the situation. You will be acutely aware of all the suggestions given. You will be acutely aware of the process and your surroundings. Afterwards you will remember the full process and at any time you always have the choice not to accept any suggestions that you feel may not be beneficial. While you are hypnotized you never lose control and if anything you will be more in control and aware of what's happening than ever before in your life.

What is hypnosis like?
Hypnosis is not sleep but some techniques use relaxation to help calm the mind and bring about the focused state that is known as hypnosis. For many this could feel like the moment before you fall asleep. For many others it is simply a calm, soothing feeling that envelops your body. This moment can be a continuum of experiences ranging anywhere from an excited daydreaming like state to a deeply relaxed state. As well, you may experience a feeling of being light or heavy or tingling sensations in the extremities. Typically, one finds a hypnotized state to be very peaceful, relaxing and pleasant.

What is self-hypnosis?

How many times will I have to listen to a Hypnosis CD before it works?
The very first time you listen to your recording it will have a beneficial effect on you. However, some may notice an impact quicker than others may as many factors affect the outcome. That being said, most people become aware of improvements after only 4 to 5 times. The more you listen the more impactful it will become.

I feel wonderfully relaxed while listening to my Hypnosis CD, but I do not seem to be hypnotized. Is this normal?
Yes it is. There is no standard hypnotized feeling. Therefore, you may not know if you're hypnotized or not. But, providing you follow the instructions given on your recording you will achieve the state of mind know as self-hypnosis and with practice you will be able to recognize the desired state and go even deeper.
