Have you ever been in the “ZONE” — even if for only 2 or 3 touches in a row? When you were in the “ZONE” you experienced an altered state where you were fencing to your true potential.
If you've done it once, then you can repeat it. The zone state is already encoded into your mind and into your muscle memory. Our expertise with hypnosis gets you back in the “zone” quickly and effectively...in the few seconds before every touch.
Great fencers are simply ordinary people who think well and then do what they are capable of. You are capable of making great touches. Haven’t you made your best touches when you were loose, confident and in the “zone”?
Being cautious, tightening up, and trying to play it safe will cause a fencer to miss touch after touch. Being relaxed, being loose and feeling confident will help a fencer to reach the zone state. Hypnosis helps you feel relaxed, confident and in the “zone”.
Even for experienced fencers the loss of focus for only two or three touches can mean the difference between advancing or going home.
If you are like most people reading this you have a fencing coach, have taken lessons and you know the mechanics of parries and lunges—now you've come to the point where you’re ready to reach the next level. If you can follow a few simple instructions such as “Take a deep breath.” and “Close your eyes.” and "Focus on your breathing." you WILL be hypnotized…and your fencing WILL improve!
You are becoming the very best fencer you could ever imagine!

Last year (2002) I competed in the Division 1A Men’s Epee and finished 71st out of 89 competitors after competing at a “C” level for the past 4 years. This year (2003) I finished 11th out of 117 fencers in Div 1A and earned my “B” classification! Thanks to James’ programs and hypnotherapy sessions I finally feel I’m headed in the right direction and can attain all my goals regarding my fencing career! The ability to have a sense of pure focus and concentration is a great place to be.

Hi James,
When we were leaving your office building after our visit, I asked Jon, "Well, how would you rate your session with Mr. Kinney on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being absolutely, supremely wonderful?" With no hesitation, his quick reply was "11!" He really enjoyed meeting with you and working with you so very much.
Thank you,
~jc
James,
The Enlightened Fencer is one of the best Christmas presents we have ever given our 13 year old fencer.
Having a good teacher who not only knows the mechanics of fencing but has a love for the sport and working with people and is eager to share that knowledge with students is very important. Having good equipment and the right equipment is also important. But, one can have a good teacher, good club and equipment and something vitally important can still be missing. That missing element is the mental aspect of the game of fencing. And ultimately, the mental element is the most important of all. James Kinney's The Enlightened Fencer addresses the mental aspect of the sport of fencing in a most convincing, winsome way and rounds out the fencer's preparedness for the strip that enhances and surpasses teaching, club and equipment. Since James is a fencer himself and has a background in psychology and hypnosis, the CD is extremely well done and most beneficial, and would be a bargain at any price.
The Enlightened Fencer is written specifically for fencers. We have another CD that is written by a marathon runner and while it is good, one has to work out a way to adapt it to fencing. But, with James' The Enlightened Fencer CD, from the very beginning all you have to do is insert the disc and start listening.
The CD is not just for the mature fencer either. The young fencer would be at a definite advantage both on and off the strip in having the information and knowledge that is on James' CD. The lessons learned in these sessions will be invaluable not only for fencing but also for life. As a teacher myself and as a parent it is very satisfying to be able to give someone something that makes the recipient's eyes light up and also that will provide excellent opportunities for learning. The Enlightened Fencer is really an outstanding CD and I highly recommend it.
